Travel Grants

WCHS 2024 offers a travel grant program to delegates residing in low and lower-middle-income countries as per the World Bank income classification. The travel grant program encourages equitable access to the congress, providing support to delegates with limited funds to attend WCHS 2024.

The travel grant includes a contribution of USD 500.

Criteria

⁠Applicant must be a registered delegate to WCHS 2024 residing in a low or lower-middle-income country as defined by the World Bank income classification, the list can be found here

Priority is given to

  • Delegate presenting an approved abstract at WCHS 2024
  • ⁠Delegate of 40 years or younger (born in 1984 and after)
  • Travel Grant Notification will be sent out on 1 September 2024
  • The grant will be provided in cash to the delegates during the congress days with the travel / logistic itinerary and receipt.

Best Afforts

We welcome and recognise your research based on its scientific quality. Our international scientific committee of distinguished surgeons and practitioners carefully evaluates all submitted abstracts and selects abstracts that demonstrate the highest quality research. These abstract authors will be invited to give a presentation at the WCHS 2024, and each of them will be presented with a Certificate of Merit.

One key feature of APHS is the Bassini, Stoppa and Cooper prizes which provides a platform for you to share your research and thus gain recognition. Authors of the abstracts with the highest scores present their work at the session. A panel of adjudicators composed of eminent international experts provides critical feedback to the participants

  • Submit a short summary of the video
  • ⁠Theme: "Managing Complications / Disasters in Hernia"

Top videos will be selected for presentation

The presentations are assessed according to the importance of the research question, the strength of the research methodology, the quality of the results, the clarity of the presentation, and the scientific impact of the research.
