Metin Ertem, MD, FACS Professor of Surgery
After completing his medical education and Surgery residency at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, he started working as a faculty member in the Department of General Surgery Cerrahpaşa.
He is the General Surgery Director of Acıbadem Kozyatagı Hospital since 2005.
His main area of interests are Oncologic Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery.
He has been the president of Turkish Anti-Cancer Foundation . He is one of the leading Laparoscopic Surgeons in Turkey who performed many surgeries which have been performed for the first time. He was the first surgeon who performed first Laparoscopic colon surgery and laparoscopic hernia surgery in Turkey. He is one of the first surgeon that performed the morbid obesity surgery in Turkey.
He performed laparoscopic single-port total gastrectomy to gastric cancer in world. He also described the laparoscopic technique for Liver Hydatid cyst disease that was still applied in world.
He was also the founder of Turkish Hernia Society in 2003 .
