Dr. Lorenz graduated as doctor of medicine in the University of Leipzig in 1989 continuing as a consultant doctor for surgery. Since 2000 he has been in private practice in Berlin, in which time he has dedicated 25 years to hernia repair surgery. Since 2006 he is a medical director and owner of 3+CHIRURGEN medical practice. Dr. Lorenz works also as consultant surgeon with own department for hernia surgery in the Havelklinik Berlin. Since 2022 he is a guest scientist at Brandenburg University. He is a founder and scientific manager of the Berliner Hernientage – Berlin Herniadays - international congress organized yearly since 2007 and he is also one of the founders and managers of a standardized education course in the field of Hernia surgery - Hernia school. Dr. Lorenz´s expertise as a general surgeon is recognized both nationally and internationally, he is a frequent contributor to national and international congresses in herniology, also participates in clinical trials and has published several scientific articles in research international journals. Dr Lorenz is a member of the Scientific Board of the German Hernia Registry Herniamed GmbH and he is since 2011 the Vice President of the German Hernia Society. As Secretary of National Chapters and Membership he was a Board member of European Hernia Society and additional various Surgical Societies in Germany.
