Professor Sheen was born in London and went to Medical School at the University of Dundee. He trained in General Surgery in London, Oxford, Manchester & Leeds as well as also undergoing specialised hernia training in Sweden. He has a tertiary-level national and international practice in hernia surgery, particularly for patients diagnosed with a possible sportsman\'s groin. He has an extensive portfolio in clinical and scientific research in the field of hernia, having undertaken randomised trials, co-authored consensus statements in addition to book chapters. He has also helped write international and NICE guidelines on hernia surgery and is the Past President of the British Hernia Society.
